My project for this week

After puzzling over why I continue to gain weight despite my best efforts to eat as many fresh foods as possible and eat smaller portions, I have decided to try an experiment. I am going to try to eat breakfast every day! I'm thinking that this will give my metabolism a swift kick in the pants in the morning, and maybe my body will feel less of the need to hold on to every meal.

Now, this might sound silly to those of you who do eat breakfast every day, but considering that I haven't been in the habit of doing so since junior year of high school or so, this could be harder than it seems. My main problem is time. Every minute of my morning counts since I don't get up until I absolutely have to. So...I'm going to start small. A banana, for example, or a few bites of yogurt. In a pinch, I've decided that a glass of milk and a few crackers would even be ok.

I'll let you know how it goes! I don't have scales, so my measure of progress is how my pants fit me. If my pants get any tighter, I won't have any clothes to wear to work!

I totally understand what you mean! I never ate breakfast...I much prefer to use the extra time in the morning to sleep. :) But I started to eat a little bit now (bread, oranges, etc.) and it's working...I think, anyway. :)

Welcome, welcome... I just cannot handle diet, I have discovered. So my way of losing weight will be by cycling to the office everyday and the only day I don't cycle would be when it rains. It's just too damned cold in Winter when it rains.

Dieting is super hard for me as well. But you know what? As I was reading your post, I realized I don't eat breakfast either. I make the kids breakfast but I seldom will have some myself. Hmmm, maybe I will have to make a bigger effort and see if it works for me as well.

I've been trying to get a bit of exercise by biking and using a treadmill. The other day I thought I'd die because I was biking up a very steep hill. Gosh, how embarassing! And the treadmill is fun but I've got a wee tiny kid here and he wants to jump on with me whenever I use it, so it's even harder for me just trying to use it. I've tried using one when he's asleep but that's no good because by that time, I'm dead tired and freshly clean and not really wanting to get all sweaty from a treadmill jog. Sigh...it's tough!

I'm with ya here! My pants are also getting a bit tight.Sigh! : )

Were you influenced by Glamour? I was just reading the JAN issue and thought of the exact same thing...
If that does not work, you should join me for belly-dancing, my dieting plan for this year...
